Electronic Entry & AQIS Fee Increase – Effective 1 July 2026

What’s changing on 1 July 2026?

The Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) applies an annual indexation to biosecurity and imported food regulatory charges. For the 2026–27 financial year, all relevant fees are increasing by 3.8%, in line with the All-Groups CPI movement recorded in the December quarter and applied under legislated CPI indexation provisions.

The two key charge areas affected for import clients are:

Electronic Entry Fees – charges applied by the Australian Border Force for the electronic lodgement and processing of import entries via the Integrated Cargo System (ICS).

AQIS / Quarantine Processing Charges – biosecurity charges levied by DAFF for the inspection, assessment, and clearance of goods under Australia’s biosecurity and imported food frameworks.

Why is this happening?

These are government-legislated charges, adjusted annually in line with CPI movements. They are not discretionary increases by Century Customs & Freight – we are required to pass them on at cost, with no margin applied.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry publishes the full schedule of updated government fees and charges. We encourage clients to review the official DAFF advice for a complete breakdown of all affected items.

How Century is responding

We understand that cost increases, however small, have a flow-on effect across your supply chain. Our commitment is full transparency: these charges are passed on at exactly the rate mandated by the Australian Government, and we have worked to absorb any associated administrative costs on our end wherever possible.

Here is what you can expect from us:

  • Full transparency on invoices. All government charges will continue to be itemised separately, clearly distinguishing between Century’s service fees and government-mandated charges.
  • Passed on at cost, no mark-up. AQIS and Electronic Entry charges are passed directly to clients at the government-mandated rate. Century does not apply any surcharge on top.
  • Proactive communication. We have notified all active clients ahead of the 1 July effective date to ensure there are no surprises in your cost-of-landing calculations.
  • Tariff consultancy support. If you’d like to review your current import classifications to ensure you’re not paying more duty than necessary, our tariff consultancy team is available to assist.
  • Dedicated account manager access. Your Century account manager is your first point of call for a personalised breakdown of how these changes affect your shipments.
